PBEM Gorn vs. WYN After Action Report

September 17th 2017

I have to admit that the situation got away from me. I think my opponent was also surprised at how close we suddenly find ourselves. PBEM is a strange thing--the action seems to move so slowly and then one day you open up the Sequence of Play to find that your 3 hexes away from the enemy. I've got to learn to pay closer attention.

The WYN launches four drones on Turn 1 Impulse 24. I have yet to hear what the Gorn has launched although by Sequence of Play the plasma launches should happen first. Well, to be honest, it wouldn't have changed my decision to launch. I'm guessing that the Gorn has a brick on his #2 shield. That would explain his approach angle and I've seen Marc play before--he likes using the brick.
Now, unless the Gorn has launched, we go to the Direct Fire Phase.

I've started a new Play-By-Email-Game with Marc and with Jeff as moderator. Moderating a PBEM game can be  a lot of work so thank you Jeff.

My opponent, the Gorn. I've never felt comfortable with plasma. An email game should give me some time to get used to the stuff.

The WYN GBS. I'm not a strong tournament player. I've blown up more Fed TCCs than I can count so I finally moved to the GBS thinking a more well-rounded ship will give me a better opportunity to learn the game.

We begin the game moving at speed 16, towards the centre of the board. On impulse 12 of Turn 1 I announce a speed change to 31. The Gorn is still at 16.

On Turn 1 impulse 17 the Gorn turns to port. I continue moving straight in.
